The 117th Annual Boston Marathon 2013
The Boston Marathon is the oldest annual marathon race in the country, held annually on Patriots' Day. Each year the Boston Athletic Association-governed event draws roughly 500,000 spectators 26,000 participating runners. This year's race and activities will take place on April 15, 2013.
Boston Marathon Race Course
The 26-mile race is a point to point course, from Hopkinton to Boston. Runners will start on Main Street in Hopkinton and follows Route 135 east towards Boston, passing through Ashland, Framingham, Natick and Wellesley. The finish line ends near the John Hancock Tower in Boston's Copley Square
Marathon Spectator Viewing Information
Not up for a 26-mile run? There are plenty of opportunities to kick back and view the race alongside the track. Shuttle services will transport spectators to the starting line in Hopkinton. Keep in mind that the South Street lot by the starting line is limited. Spectators can also catch the race from the finish line where jumbo screens will be set up.
Marathon Race Day Start Time
Runners can pick up their numbers the weekend before Monday marathon race day. Depending on your registration and qualification, race start times range from 9 a.m. to 10:40 a.m.
Qualifying for the Boston Marathon
Runners 18 years or older are allowed to participate in the marathon. Missed the qualifying for the 2013 race? Registration for the 1014 Boston Marathon begins early September 2013.
