Out With The Old

Greetings from a chilly Boston and an empty, but buzzing, 143 room hotel located in the heart of Boston’s Copley Square! My name is John Maibach, General Manager, and welcome to my blog! If this is your first time visiting our site…thank you for your interest in the new Copley Square Hotel! If you have visited our site before, welcome back - you have probably noticed a significant change! If you have not heard…Monday, January 14th began a new era for the historic, 117 year old Copley Square Hotel as the doors were closed for the first time since opening in 1891! I invite you to read our Press Release to learn more about what is happening inside our four walls.

While there is plenty of ‘heavy lifting’ going on throughout the property, we have spent a lot of time preparing for this day by developing our new brand; much of which you can see on our new landing page to the website (logo, tag line and positioning statement). We are extremely excited with our new look and we hope you are too! We believe it will assist in setting us apart as an urban chic alternative to the many traditional Back Bay hotels found within our neighborhood. While we continue to work diligently developing the brand with Advertising, PR and Marketing, our Operations team is also hard at work implementing a host of service initiatives that will surely ‘WOW’ you unlike any other Boston property! While a new product is an important beginning, we also realize that true loyalty can only be earned through superior service offerings provided by friendly, yet efficient, Associates and an attention to detail shared by all.

On the physical product, we are well into the liquidation phase of our project. Furniture is being removed, bed and bath linens donated to a local charity, and, quite frankly, just trying to stay out of the way of the many contractors throughout the hotel preparing the building for construction (currently only about 20-25 today but will soon be as many as 60 workers a day!). We haven’t started with demolition but are anxious to ‘knock down walls’ – literally! Yet a little leery as to what we may find behind 117 year old walls!

I look forward to updating my blog a couple of times each week and sharing the excitement of our renovation and re-invention. Shortly, we will outline many of our new Service initiatives, our extensive guest loyalty program, introduce other key members of the team and discuss career opportunities at ‘the C2’. I invite you to visit again and not only watch the re-invention of the Copley Square Hotel happen right before your eyes but to also share your ideas and suggestions for making the Copley Square Hotel Boston’s best urban chic property!
